Aerosmith in India
The day was June 2nd 2007. One of the world's best live acts landed in India at B'lore to perform at the Palace Grounds for the hordes of Indian rock fans who are like the carnivore in captivity that has just tasted blood, having had a taste of a few top international acts!
The show was slated to start at 7.30pm. We were near the gates by 5.30pm. In high spirits, but ofcourse! While standing in the serpentine queue (separate ones for ladies n gents, surprisingly!) we were gifted with Aerosmith bandanas and headbands by various sponsors. The two of us were also interviewed by CNN-IBN on what makes us come for all these shows.
Inside the venue by 6pm, we had to wait till 8.15 or so for the show to start and there was no opening band. Now, this was sad and the organizers should please take note of this. It was a pain to stand for so long, especially when there is nothing happening on stage. The smell of pot was, as usual heavy in the air, adding to the headiness of the atmosphere.
The band got on stage finally and started off predictably with Taste of India. They went on to play Love in an Elevator, Crying, Fallin' in Love is hard on the Knees, Eat the Rich, Living on the Edge, Dream on, Don't wanna Miss a thing etc.
A high energy stage act, replete with the trademark scarf on the mic stand, shirts off, tattoos et al. There was this song sung by the guitarist, Joe Perry, Stop Messing Around. The videos are there for you to see on www.youtube.com/ The link that shows u all is http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=aerosmith%2Bbangalore&search=Search
An amazing show, worth the time, money and effort spent in driving all the way to B'lore from Calicut, all of 350km, staying there and spending more money!
