Like we said elsewhere on the site an icon a legend. an institution God’s gift to music what can we say about this phenomenon? There is no country where he has not performed. We are lucky to have been associated with a show by him, one of the biggest ever in Kerala. The Calicut Bar Association of which I was but a junior member, was celebrating its bicentenary 200 years of existence and for many projects to be realized, they wanted a fund raising. What else but music and who else But Padmasree Dr. K.J.Yesudas? The program was in 1994, thevenue, the Corporation Stadium. In 1994, I was just 3 years into the profession, a raw junior, and yet, I was made the Joint Convener of the whole program.
A massive show. The legwork was exhaustive. 10,000 chairs alone were laid on the ground. The galleries were full. The chairs were full. Pushpa Sounds, Calicut did the sound and lights.Bar Association made money, lots of it. The main sponsor was Shadan Group of Companies. The rest of the sponsors read like a who’s who of Calicut .
